A release event does not always explain why custody ended. Note: Register before an expected event when possible, since notification cannot reliably reconstruct every custody change that already occurred.
Confirm Hancock VINELink Release Alerts
A VINELink alert is timely notice, not a certified document. Agency feeds may lag the physical event, repeat a message, or change after a correction. The alert date may also differ from the jail's authorization time or actual gate transaction. Preserve each timestamp and ask which one the agency record represents.

A positive event should be read literally and within the named agency's scope. “Transferred” is not “released to the community.” Likewise, an out-of-custody event from one system does not prove the absence of another hold, supervision term, or receiving custodian.

VINELink limit: Data can lag, federal custody falls outside its normal county/state feed, and every release or transfer should be confirmed at the source.
Hancock VINE and Registry Differences
The Mississippi Sex Offender Registry is separate from VINELink. The registry applies only to people who have a legal registration duty and may publish registration or location data after release. It is not an all-offender list, a county release feed, or a substitute for the source custody record. Absence from the registry says nothing about whether a person was booked, released, transferred, or placed on another form of supervision.
Use the registry only when that specific statutory category is relevant. For a Hancock County custody event, remain with HCSO, VINE, and the proper court.
